- Mosquito Season is here! To request Mosquito Control Spraying on your area please contact our office at (352)472-8149 Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 4:00pm. Provide your name, address, and phone number to be placed on the list. Other ways to reduce Mosquitoes:
- repair leaky pipes and outside faucets
- empty, remove, or cover any receptacle that would hold water: tires, cans, bottles, etc
- cover or turn small boats upside down and keep all water pumped out of bilge
- change water in wading pools, bird baths, pet dishes, and vases
- screen rain barrels and openings to water tanks
- clean clogged roof gutters of all debris, drain flat roofs and tarps
- fix or replace screens on doors and windows

- Meter Readings begin the week of September 1, 2010
- Please pay your Utility Bill by August 16th, 2010 before 4:30 pm. Bills must be paid by 4:30 pm on August 24, 2010 to avoid disconnection of service on August 26, 2010. NO DELIQUENT LETTER WILL BE SENT. Please contact the utility clerk at 352-472-2161 ext. 1 with your up to date, active contact information.

Utility Assistance Program
Instructions and Guidelines
The City of Newberry’s Utility Assistance Program provides utility assistance to qualified low-income residential customers. Assistance will be provided to eligible applicants up to fifty percent (50%) of the utility bill with a maximum benefit of $200.00. Applicants may receive assistance a maximum of three (3) times within the fiscal year, before applying for a second or third utility assistance, the applicant will need to apply for a weatherization grant with Central Florida Community Action Agency.
The application must be completed and turned in by the 15th of each month. The Committee will meet and review applications 3 days after CAA meets. Applications will remain in a pending status until all required documentation has been received and approved by the Utility Assistance Committee. Applicants will then be notified of the status of their application.
To qualify for assistance your total household income must be within 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines. The Applicants living in federally subsidized housing, including Section 8, are not eligible for the utility assistance.
Please complete an application and return to Newberry City Hall with the following documentation attached:

COPY of your Photo ID

COPY of Social Security cards for all household members

Proof of income (prior three months)

Proof of any other income, (S.S. benefit letters, child support, etc.)

Most recent utility bill – Applicant’s name must appear on the bill and account must be active 90 days prior to application
What to do if my service is disconnected.
For Customers whose utilities are disconnected due to non-payment please follow the procedure listed below:

If calling during business hours 8:00 am to 4:30 pm there is a reconnect fee of $25.00. Payment must be made in check or money order and given to the field representative. No cash payment will be accepted by the field representative. Cash will be accepted at City Hall during normal business hours.

If calling after business hours there is a reconnect fee of $45.00. Payment must be made in check or money order and given to the field representative. No cash payment will be accepted by the field representative.
If the customer only pays with cash please come to City Hall on the next business day to pay. Service will be reconnected at that time.
